Joe Ray's Story
Life
Graduated from Ray in my junior year. Attended DelMar and Texas A&I in Kingsville. I joined the Navy in 1980, married in 1981 and had my son Joseph Ray in 1982. While in the Navy I have lived in San Diego, CA. three times, Oakland, CA New York,NY, Chicargo, Jacksonville,NC, San Antonio, TX, El Centro CA, Yokosuka Japan, I have been to most contries from Eurpope to Africa, Central and South America and the middle and far east. My wife and I seperated in 1990 and divorce in 1992 when my son and I returned from Japan. In 1999 I retired from the Navy and moved to Corpus Christi for a short time. I spent 6 months droping off my son at school and watching soaps. It drove me so crazy that I went out and started a new job. Six months later I was offered a promotion as the Regional Safety & Compliance Officer for Labatory Coorporation of America in San Antnio. My son and I relocated to S.A. in December 1999. e is planning on attending Texas A&M (Aggie) because he wants to complete their PHD program in Genetics. As for me, my life is the same as when I was a young man. I have taken all types of dance lessons(Swing,Tango, Ballroom,Country Swing,Salsa, Merengue,Tejano). I have been a Cub Master, Scout Master and Scouting Chairman. I have taught Sunday School, specifically Confirmation. I have continued to serve as a Lector at what ever church I attend. My greatest joy was when my son serves as an alter boy and I as a lector. He is too old for that know (they grow up too fast). I Have coached, baseball, basketball, and soccer. In Japan I was one of the founders of a Hispanic Association, we established a scholarship program and dance troupe that performed through out Japan. I look back on my life with nothing but content. Now that I am not in a hurry to get anywhere I often think of the people and places from my past. You would be surprise of all the people from my past that I think of.
